Abstract Purpose:To evaluate postoperative refractive error and the accuracy of IOL Master® 700 in cataract eyes.

Methods:The axial length(AL)that indication of attention was shown on 33 eyes of 37 patients was pre and postoperatively measured using IOL Master® 700. We evaluated cataract type and severity, the AL differences before and after surgery, and postoperative refractive error. Postoperative refractive error was evaluated in patients with best-corrected visual acuity of 0.7 or better, which could be observed 3 months postoperatively.

Results:The indication to give attention of IOL Master® 700 was shown in a high percentage of anterior or posterior subcapsular cataract(62.2%). For AL differences with a small number of acquisitions were significantly large(p<0.05), but postoperative refractive error was not correlated, regardless of the number of AL acquisitions(p>0.05).

Conclusion:In cataract eyes, the indication to give attention of IOL Master® 700 on AL was shown in a high percentage of anterior or posterior subcapsular cataracts. Although there were large AL differences before and after surgery, their influence on postoperative refractive error was small.
