Abstract Purpose:To compare LENSTAR LS900® and IOLMaster® 700 for measurement of optical components prior to cataract surgery.

Case and Methods:This study was made on 92 eyes of 58 cases with cataract. The series comprised 38 male and 54 female eyes. The age averaged 74.5±7.7 years. All the cases were examined by LENSTAR LS900® and IOLMaster® 700.

Results:Values for optical components averaged for LENSTAR LS900® and IOLMaster® 700 respectively as follows. Anterior chamber depth:2.97±0.34 mm and 3.01±0.35 mm. Axial length:24.01±1.60 mm and 24.01±1.64 mm. Corneal thickness:546±26.68 μm and 535±26.44 μm. Corneal refractive power(K):44.37±1.31D and 44.39±1.29D. Lens thickness:4.58±0.38 mm and 4.54±0.36 mm. Corneal diameter:11.7±0.32 mm and 11.6±0.35 mm. Values for anterior chamber depth was significantly higher by LS900(p<0.0001). Values for lens thickness, corneal thickness, and corneal diameter were significantly higher for Model 700(p<0.0001, p<0.0001, and p<0.05 respectively).

Conclusion:The two devices showed different values for optical components that were significant or non-significant. These differences were considered to be minor ones for calculation of intraocular lens power.
