Abstract. Background:Eyes with epiretinal membrane may show double peaks on A-mode echogram. One peak is from the epiretinal membrane and the other from retinal pigment epithelium. Purpose:To report refractive errors after cataract surgery in eyes that show double peak by echography. Cases and Method:This study was made on 16 eyes that received cataract surgery and vitrectomy. IOL MasterTM was used to calculate the axial length. The value was analyzed regarding double peak and foveal thickness. Results:Double peak was present in 11 eyes(69%). Difference between the anterior and posterior peak ranged from 0.38 to 0.52 mm,average 0.44 mm. Foveal thickness ranged from 305 to 565μm,average 423μm. Both values were positively correlated(p=0.0216,r=0.66). The actual axial length approximated most closely to the echographic value based on the posterior peak. Conclusion:It is advisable to use the posterior peak in eyes that show double peak in cataract surgery.
