The pupillary block, which underlies primary angle-closure glaucoma, is caused by abnormally tight contact between the iris diaphragma and the anterior lens surface. Pupil-blocking force is ex-pressed as the vector of forces exerted to the iris. As contributory factors to the relative pupillary block, we evaluated, statistically, the anterior chamber depth and the pupil size. We could draw anomogram dealing with the pupil blocking force, anterior chamber depth and pupil size by computer simulation. The nomogram showed the pupil-block-ing force to lie in a more critical zone when the anterior chamber depth is 2.0 mm or less. The simulation curve showed that the pupil size plays a far lesser role in the magnitude of pupil-blocking force than the anterior chamber depth.
