  • Look Inside

A 76-year-old female presented with binocular visual deterioration as chief complaint. We obser-ved, by slitlamp biomicroscopy, disc-shaped cloudy areas in the central cornea in both eyes. The opac-ity involved the entire layers of the cornal stroma. The corneal thickness was normal. Corneal sensi-tivity was reduced.

Two members of her offspring, 44-year-old female and 41-year-old male, manifested disc -shaped nebulae located in the deep stromal layers in the central cornea bilaterally. Both cases manifested no decrease in vision or corneal sensitiv-ity. The corneal thickness was within normal range. Two of the three cases manifested mild hypercholesterolemia.
