Abstract Purpose:Lisch epithelial corneal dystrophy(LECD)is a rare type of superficial corneal dystrophy. Herein, we report two cases of patients with LECD seen at our outpatient clinic to describe their clinical characteristics and disease course.

Cases:We retrospectively analyzed the clinical findings, treatment course, and visual outcomes of a 79-year-old woman with bilateral LECD and an 87-year-old man.

Findings:Patient 1 presented with bilateral band-shaped abnormal epithelial proliferation extending from the inferior cornea to the pupillary center. Following epithelial debridement of the right eye and therapeutic soft contact lens application, the corrected visual acuity improved from 0.2 to 0.5 without recurrence. Patient 2 presented with unilateral epithelial thickening at the 3-5 o'clock position of the corneal limbus, with a band-shaped extension toward the center. The lesion spontaneously regressed after 1 month of observation, with visual acuity improving from 0.2 to 0.6.

Conclusions:We report a case of bilateral LECD and another of unilateral LECD. Although the disease presents with distinctive clinical findings, its course may vary among patients. Given the potential for recurrence, regular follow-up is essential.
