We developed an automated display system for Stan-dard Pseudoisochromatic Plates Part 1 (SPP-1). This system satisfied the following requirements as stated by Schmidt : 1) neutral illumination, 2) sufficient luminan-ce, 3) no surface reflex from the plates, 4) 90° viewing angle, 5) display at a constant distance, 6) display for 2 or 3 seconds, 7) presentation of all the plates, except 8) possibility of random change of the order of the plates.

We developed a modified device that satisfies the condition (8) with the introduction of a microcomputor.

Six TMC (Tokyo Medical College) plates are attached to a rotary disk with a cover board in its front. One plate is exposed through the window of the board, 70 mm x 70 mm, while the shutter is open. The disk is made to rotate while the window is closed. The order of the plates can be randomly altered with this system. The response of the examinee is automatically printed. This modified system is expected to be of value for mass screening of color vision anomalies.
