We applied "Standard Pseudoisochromatic Plates Part 2 for Acquired Color Vision Defects" (SPP-2) in the detection and evaluation of color vision disturbance in optic neuropathy due to ethambutol therapy. A series of 47 patients under systemic ethambutol treatment were examined using SPP-2, AO-HRR plates and Farnsworth's dichotomous test. Optic neuropathy was suspected in 11 patients, all of whom were found to be more or less color-defective. Red-green defect was more marked thanblue-yellow in mild cases. Both types of defects were involved in an equal degree in severe cases and resulted in achromatopsia.
