  • Look Inside

A 44-year-old man had his lens capsule ruptured by ocular blunt trauma. Scattering lens mass gave rise to severe lens-induced uveitis and phacolytic glaucoma. For the purpose of removing the resid-ual lens nucleus in the vitreous, open-sky vitrec-tomy was carried out. New technique of vitreous surgery was chosen. Following trephination of the cornea, the cornea was preserved in cold modified M-K medium. Open-sky vitrectomy was performed through the corneal incision using Vitrophage. Balanced salt solution was used as irrigating solu-tion. Lens nucleus was safely extracted with vitre-ous cryoprobe.
