  • Look Inside

The visual evoked potentials (VEP) elicited by photic stimulation were recorded in 17 amblyopes with strabismus and eccentric fixation of 2 to 9 years of age. The amplitudes in amblyopic eyes ranged from 100 to 25% (percentage for the normal eye). Most of the cases showed the amplitude of over 60% and a few revealed extremely low amplitude of less than 30%. There was no correlation between the amplitude and the visual acuity.

In 14 cases in which the occlusion therapy was carried out the relation between the VEP findings and the prognosis of the visual acuity was evaluated.
