  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

It is well known that acetazolamide (Dia-mox®) induces calcium containing renal stones. There have been no reliable prophylactic treat-ments up to the present time.

Nine stone formers and six stone-free patients were given citrate (citrate K : 8~40g/day and citrate Na : 4~6g/day P.O.) for prophylaxis of Diamox®-induced urolithiasis.

No newly-formed or recurrent urinary stones were encountered during the follow-up period of one year or more. Citrate administration did not affect the IOP-decreasing action of Diamox®.
