The retinal vascular response is one of the most significant factors in the autoregulation of the retinal blood flow.

With color fundus photographs a Nikon Pro-file projector 6C (Type T), the retinal vascu-lar diameters of 57 open-angle glaucoma eyes were measured before and after water-drinking test, while the same examination was perfor-med on 29 normal eyes as the control.

The results obtained were as follows.

1. The retinal vessels of the normal eyes were found significantly dilated after water-drinking test.

The average arterial dilatation rate was 1.628 % and that of veins was 1.299%.
