  • Look Inside

In 8 normal rabbits, a 5.5mg /kg sodium ace-tazolamide (Diamox) in eleven per cent solution was injected subconjunctivally daily for about a month in the left eye serving the right eye as a control. The ocular tension in both eyes was measured by the Perkins hand-held applanation tonometer. Seven of the eight rabbits showed a significant difference in ocular tension (P< 0.05) between the treated and the untreated eyes with a fall in the treated left eye. The lowering of ocular tension in the treated left eye bagan around a week after the beginning of the injection and lasted for about two we-eks.
