Repeated measurements of intraocular pres-sure were conducted in 41 normal eyes (21 sub-jects) during general anesthesia, using : OF (Halothane & O2), GOF (Halothane, N2O & O2), GOE (Ether, N2O & O2) or GOP (Methoxyflu-rane, N2O & O2). Tonometry was done with handheld applanation tonometer (Perkins) and was repeated at the interval of approximately 3 minutes for 18 minutes after induction of general anesthesia.

The intraocular pressure started to decrease after induction of general anesthesia and was stabilized 6 to 12 minutes after induction.
