Poly Vinyl Formal Sponge (Polyeaze) in Plastic Surgery of Conjunctival Sac

緒言

　この度，われわれはPoly vinyl formal sponge（以後Polyeazeと略記，竹下寅五郎商店製）を結膜嚢形成術における移植皮片の支持に用い，義眼を中に挿入する新しい手術術式を考案した。

　従来義眼装用のための結膜嚢形成術は，移植皮片を縫着する煩雑さとか，Conformerの種類の選択による結果の良否があり，いずれも満足すべき結果を見るに至つていない。このような欠点を補う目的で，われわれはPolyeazeの応用を行なつた。元来Polyeazeは，耳鼻科等の術後のタンポンとか，ドレーンタンポンとして用いられているもので，角板状と棒状のものがある。

A new surgical procedure with polyeaze in a skin graft for reconstruction of the conjunctival sac on 2 cases was reported. The sponge mat was applied between the skin flap and prosthe-sis to keep an adequate pressure for the graft bed. Very satisfactory results were obtained to reconstruct a wide conjunctival sac to maintain a prosthesis. Since the surgical procedure is simple and reliable, authors recommend the use of new material in the conjunctival plasty.
