We evaluated the additive effect of 1% brinzolamide and 1% dorzolamide on 34 eyes of 34 cases of normal-tension glaucoma. The patients had been receiving latanoprost or beta-blockers. In 18 eyes that received brinzolamide, the baseline intraocular pressure(IOP)averaged 16.3±2.5mmHg. IOP decreased significantly 1,3 and 6 months after addition of brinzolamide. In 16 eyes that received dorzolamide, the baseline IOP averaged 16.1±3.3mmHg. IOP decreased significantly only 6 months after addition of dorzolamide. Considering the known side effects,1% brinzolamide is to be preferred to 1% dorzolamide for normal-tension glaucoma.
