人眼ヘルペスウイルスの家兎水晶体培養細胞に及ぼす影響

Effect of the Human Herpes Simplex Virus on Cultured Rabbit Lens Epithelium

緒言

　単純性疱疹ウィルス（herpes simplex virus＝HSV）は，ヘルペスウイルス群に属する代表的なウイルス^1）で，最も広くヒトを侵襲する^2）といわれている。

　HSV感染による眼疾患には，ヘルペス性眼瞼炎，ヘルペス性角膜炎，ヘルペス性ブドウ膜炎等がある^3）〜5）。特に，ヘルペス性角膜炎は，近年，コルチコステロイドの眼科的応用の急増に伴つて，その発生頻度ならびに重篤度が著しく増加し，従来は比較的まれとされていた両側性の罹患も多発化の傾向にある^6）7）。さらに，本症はその難治性と再燃性とが特徴で，高度の視力障害を残すことから社会的にも重要な問題となりつつあつて，角膜移植術の最大の適応疾患となつているが，今泉^8）が指摘したごとく，本症の角膜移植術には今日なお，大きな制約が存在している。

We have succeeded in growing a new cell strain RLE derived from an adult albino rabbit lens epithelium. This strain has been mainta-ined in continuous tissue culture through 120 passages for two years.

In the present paper, cytopathic effect (CPE) upon RLE was studied by inoculation of the human herpes simplex virus (HSV). The follow-ing results were obtained.

1) RLE proved to be considerably susceptible to HSV. The CPE caused by HSV developed rapidly and remarkably. The TCID₅₀ of HSV in RLE reached a constant titer 3~4 days after the inoculation.
