糖尿病性眼合併症の実態II—網膜症について

Statistic Observation on the Diabetic Retinopathy

I．緒言

　現在糖尿病に伴う眼合併症のうち，その頻度と予後とから考えて最も重大視されねばならぬのは網膜症であるが，いま一つの視力障害の原因となる，頻度も高い眼合併症である白内障の手術予後を左右するのも，この網膜症であることを前報^1）で明らかにした。したがつて，この網膜症に関する事項は，さらにほかの対象群の統計結果も加えて，本報において重点的に論じたいと思う。

A retrospective statistic observation on 1, 190 cases of diabetes mellitus who visited the cli-nics of the authors, the Main and Branch Hospital, during the last 3 years has been pre-sented. The cases included 530 (44.5%) instan-ces of diabetic retinopathy, 89 (7.5%) of which had severe form of retinopathy. In these cases, the frequency of diabetic retinopathy was higher in females than in males, and the older group whose age was over 40 years had a higher fre-quency of retinopathy than the younger group.
