Use of 20% Mannitol for Absent Anterior Chamber Following Cataract Surgery

I．はじめに

　白内障手術後の前房再生遅延および前房再消失に対して，Diamoxなど投与の報告^1）〜6）は多数あるが，無効の場合もみられる。

　今回われわれは，同様の症例に対して，20％マニトール点滴投与を行ない，著しい効果を見ることができたので，50％グリセリン経口投与の効果と併せて報告する。

Twelve eyes with absent anterior chamber during the second week following extracapsular cataract extraction were treated by intravenous infusion of 20% mannitol at the dosis of 2gm kg. wt. Two cases in whom the anterior cham-ber became absent during the first week after surgery were treated by peroral 50% glycerol.

Reinstitution of the anterior chamber resulted within one to two days after mannitol therapy in all the 12 cases except one in whom intra-venous infusion had to be interrupted due to poor systemic conditions. Use of glycerin in two cases proved also effective, while it proved futile in cases of late onset.
