Fellow Eye Syndrome

I．緒言

　1眼に網膜剥離があり，第2眼に剰離を来たすものをいうのであるが，これらは剥離の両眼性の問題にも関連してくる。

　私どもは症例は少ないが，少しくこの点についてふれてみたい。

A total of 164 cases were admitted for treat-ment of retinal detachment in the authors' clinic during 5 years from 1961 to 1965. Out of these 164 cases, 8 patients had already had detachment in the other eye (in 2 cases the detachment was secondary to uveitis). In 2 cases detachment occurred simultaneously in both eyes. In 5 cases the other eye was al-ready blind from unknown causes.

The involvement of the "fellow eye" in re-tinal detachment during the above period thus occurred at an incidence of 6.1%, provided that simultaneous bilateral occurrence is to be in-cluded in this category.
