Abstract. Purpose:This study was aimed to confirm the efficacy and safety of 0.3% tosufloxacin tosilate(TFLX)in actual use and also to analyze the efficacy of TFLX treating ophthalmic low-incident pathogenic bacteria, which could not be isolated in the pre-approval trials. Participants:From Sep.2006 to Oct. 2009, 1,269 patients(aged 0〜101 years)treated with TFLX were enrolled in this study. Results:The investigators determined that the efficacy rate of TFLX was 96.1%(1,065/1,108)and the improvement rate based on the criteria scored by the investigators was 83.1%(590/710). The clearance rate of targeted bacteria was 84.1%(380/452)and the effectiveness of TFLX on the low-incident pathogenic bacteria, such as Enterococcus spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Morganella morganii, were also confirmed. Adverse drug reactions(ADRs)occurred in 0.4%(5/1,249)of cases but none of the ADRs was serious. Conclusion:This study confirmed that TFLX is a highly effective drug in actual clinical treatment of external eye infections.
