Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of vernal conjunctivitis that resisted to conventional treatments and that responded to peroral cyclosporine. Case:A 27-year-old male presented with itchy and foreign body sensation in both eyes. He had received cataract surgery one year before and had been treated for atopic dermatitis. Findings:Corrected visual acuity was 1.2 right and 0.7 left. Both eyes showed giant follicles in the upper eyelid. He showed skin eruptions over the whole body with itchiness. Conventional topical treatments including dexamethasone proved futile. Start of peroral cyclosporine 21 months after initial visit was followed by disappearance of conjunctival and corneal lesions. He has been doing well for 44 months until present while receiving coclosporine. Conclusion:Peroral cyclosporine was effective for vernal conjunctivitis in a patient of atopic dermatitis.
