Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of bilateral posterior lenticonus that showed rapid progression. Case:A 12-year-old boy presented with impaired visual acuity in the right eye since 2 months before. He had been diagnosed with atopic dermatitis and cataract in the right eye 2 years before. His father had received surgery for cataract in both eyes secondary to atopic dermatitis. Findings:Correct visual acuity was 0.2 right and 0.8 left. The right eye showed posterior protrusion of the lens capsule. Visual acuity in either eye decreased to 0.06 3 months later. The refraction was -10.00 diopters in the right and -2.50 diopters diplopia in the left eye. He has been doing well for 11 months until present. Conclusion:This case illustrates that posterior lentconus may show rapid progression.
