Abstract. Purpose:To report differences in the area of kinetic visual field in senile and younger persons. Cases and Method:Kinetic Goldmann perimetry was performed on 68 eyes of 68 persons over 65 years of age. All had past history of cataract surgery. They were divided into 3 groups:12 eyes between 65 and 75 years, 38 eyes between 75 and 85 years, and 18 eyes above 85 years. Findings were compared with those in 18 eyes of 18 adults. These 18 eyes were phakic and free of cataract. The age ranged from 27 to 49 years, average 41 years. The isopters for Ⅰ-4 and Ⅰ-2 were measured using a computer. Results:Area of visual field was significantly larger in phakic adults below 49 years of age than in those over 65 years. Among persons over 65 years of age, visual field was larger in those under 75 than over 75 years. Among persons over 75 years of age, there was no difference in visual field between those under than over 85 years. Conclusion:Area of kinetic visual field was smaller in persons over 65 years of age than in those under 49 years. Among persons over 75 years, there was no difference in the area of visual field between those under and over 85 years.
