 The major problem of osteoporosis is compression fracture of the spinal column and femoral neck fracture, disturbing the independence of aged patients. Acquiring and maintaining of high bone quantity during childhood is very important to prevent such bone fracture. Precaution during childhood and early diagnosis and treatment for osteoporosis in aged patient would prevent loss of quality of life. Basically, osteoporosis would be treated with osteoactive drug. It is desirable that administration of drug for each patient of osteoporosis would be maintained with monitoring bone quantity and biochemical markers of bone. In this article, effect of aging on bone metabolism is described.
