Abstract. Purpose:Comparison of predicted refractive error after cataract surgery with intraocular lens(IOL)power calculation formulas. Cases and method:The study evaluated 217 eyes of 152 patients having phacoemulsification and in-the bag IOL implantation. The predicted refractions were calculated using Holladay, SRK/T, Hoffer Q and Haigis formulas. The prediction error was calculated as the difference between the postoperative spherical equivalent and the predicted refraction. Results:The mean absolute errors were 0.38±0.33D with Holladay, 0.42±0.36D with SRK/T, 0.37±0.29D with Hoffer Q and 0.37±0.29D with Haigis formulas. The mean absolute error was the smallest by Haigis formula. Conclusions:The postoperative prediction error of the Haigis formula was the smallest among four formulas.
