Abstract. Purpose:To report the therapeutic outcome for diplopia with prism spectacles combined with partial occlusion. Cases and Method:This review was made on 80 patients who received treatment for diplopia in the past 67 months. They were aged from 28 to 86 years, average 62 years. Diplopia was due to superior oblique muscle palsy 16 cases, abducens palsy 15 cases, skew deviation 9 cases, and thyroid ophthalmopathy 4 cases among others. Patients were treated by prism spectacles and/or partial occlusion. Cases were followed up for an average of 30 months. Results:Diplopia disappeared in 72 cases(90%). Cure was obtained by wearing prism spectacles in 53 cases, with additional partial occlusion in 7 cases, and by partial occlusion only in 12 cases. Conclusion:Diplopia was cured in 90% of patients by wearing prism spectacles and/or partial occlusion.
