Abstract. Purpose:To report aniseikonia and stereopsis in patients with unilateral idiopathic macular hole. Cases and Method:This prospective study was made on 24 cases of unilateral idiopathic macular hole during an 11-month period. The macular hole was either in stage 2 or 3 after Gass. The macular hole closed in all the cases after surgery. Aniseikonia was evaluated using New Aniseikonia tests. Titmus Stereo Test was used to evaluate stereopsis. Results:Eyes with macular hole showed micropsia. The difference from the fellow eye averaged 3.83% for target size of 6°and 2.88% for 12°. Micropsia decreased after surgery averaging 1.33% and 1.21% respectively. Micropsia was greater for target size of 6°than 12°. Correlation between stereopsis and micropsia was not significant for target size of 6°and was significant after surgery for target size of 12°. Conclusion:Correlation between stereopsis and micropsia may be present under certain conditions in patients with unilateral idiopathic macular hole.
