Abstract. Background:An eye camp activity has been conducted for Tibetan refugees in north-western India since 2000. This activity has been conducted by an NGO called Association for Ophthalmic Cooperation in Asia(AOCA). Purpose:To report changes in the background of patients during the past 10 years. Objects and Method:We interviewed 35 patients each who received eye surgery in 2000 and 2009 regarding 7 items including their background. Result:There was a decrease in the number of Tibetans and of patients coming to the eye camp on foot. There were increases in the motivation of patients visiting the eye camp that included public relations by the local Rotary Club and reputations among patients. Free treatment was another major factor that induced patients to visit the eye camp. Conclusion:Changes in the background of patients in the past 10 years reflect chain reaction of the eye camp activity and social circumstances in the area.
