Abstract. Purpose:To report the power of intraocular lens(IOL)used for cataract surgery in an eye camp in northwestern India. Cases and Method:This study was made on 138 eyes of 138 patients who received cataract surgery in an eye camp in northwestern India in 2 years through 2009. Power of IOL was determined by SRKⅡ formula with 118.5 as constant A. Results:Power of IOL averaged 22.37±2.19 diopters in 111 eyes of Indians. It averaged 22.4±1.27 diopters in 27 eyes of Tibetans. There was no significant difference between the two groups. Power of IOL ranged from 21.0 to 23.0 diopters in 51.4% and from 19.0 to 25.0 diopters in 87.7% in the whole series. Conclusion:Approximately 90% of prospective patients will have favorable visual outcome by providing IOLs ranging from 19.0 to 25.0 diopters in power.
