Abstract. A 75-year-old man was referred to us for retinal hemorrhage. He had noticed metamorphopsia since 8 years before. He had been diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration one year before. His corrected visual acuity was 0.8 right and 0.2 left. Hard drusen were scattered in the posterior fundus area in both eyes. The right eye showed, nasal to the disc,a fibrous membrane of 1.5 disc diameters(DD)across, exudates and hemorrhagic patches. The left eye showed macular degeneration and, nasal to the disc, subretinal hemorrhage of 3 DD across with exudates. Fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography showed neovascularization corresponding to the lesion nasal to the disc in the left eye. We diagnosed both eyes as peripheral exudative hemorrhagic chorioretinopathy(PEHCR). The lesion in the left eye received 3 sessions of laser photocoagulation. Subretinal hemorrhage started to regress and the neovascularization disappeared 6months after treatment. This case illustrates that photocoagulation may be effective in preventing progression of PEHCR.
