Abstract. We observed spontaneously regressed retinal detachment in two cases of optic disc anomaly. One was a 16-year-old girl with morning glory syndrome in her right eye. A bullous retinal detachment developed superior nasal to the right optic disc. The detachment did not involve the macular area and spontaneously disappeared after 10 weeks. The other was a 23-year-old male. He had noticed decrease of vision in his left eye 3 years before leading to the diagnosis of pit-macular syndrome. Repeated photocoagulation had proved futile. The subretinal fluid continued to fluctuate until its complete disappearance 16months later. The corrected visual acuity improved from the initial 0.05 to 0.15. Posterior vitreous detachment was absent in both cases. The spontaneous regression of retinal detachment was apparently due to tamponade effect of vitreous gel and to more or less intact fluid-absorbing function of retinal pigment epithelium.
