Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of LASIK using corneal flap of two different thickness. Cases and Method:This study was made on 74 eyes that received LASIK by VISK STAR S4 IRTM for myopia during a 12-month period. A femtosecond laser was used to prepare the corneal flap. Its thickness was 90μm in 26 eyes and 120μm in 48 eyes. Results:There was no difference between the 2 groups regarding visual acuity with or without correction, accuracy of correction,or refraction six month after treatment. Both groups showed improved contrast sensitivity at 6 months than 1 month of treatment. Eyes treated by 90μm flap showed significantly smaller increase in spherical and spherical-like aberration. There was no complication throughout the study. Conclusion:LASIK using corneal flap of 90μm in thickness results in preservation of enough residual stromal bed and is expected to prevent complications including keratectasia.
