Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of photodynamic therapy in eyes of polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy with good visual acuity. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 8 eyes of 8 patients with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. The series comprised 5 males and 3 females. The age ranged from 56 to 80 years, average 69 years. All had visual acuity of 0.5 or better. The greatest linear dimension of lesion ranged from 729 to 5,291μm,average 2,860μm by fluorescein angiography. Results; After 6 months of treatment, visual acuity improved in 4 eyes, remained in 3 eyes, and deteriorated in one eye. Foveal thickness decreased by 10% or more in 6 eyes, remained unchanged in one,and increased in one after 6 months of treatment. Conclusion:Photodynamic therapy promises to be of value in eyes of polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy with good visual acuity.
