Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of intravitreal injection of bevacizumab for diabetic disc neovascularization(NVD). Cases and Method:This study was made on two males aged 61 and 53 years respectively. One had had diabetes mellitus for 30 years and the other for 20 years. Both cases received panretinal photocoagulation and intravitreal bevacizumab followed by resection of NVD 3 months and 50 days later respectively. The resected tissue was examined microscopically after staining with CD31. Result:Tissue specimen from 2 eyes contained vessels in small amount. Conclusion:Intravitreal bevacizumab induces regression, but not obliteration of newly formed vessels from the optic disc in diabetic eyes. This therapeutic modality may be of clinical value in suppressing leakage from NVDs.
