Abstract. Purpose:To report macular thickness and interobserver differences in healthy eyes using Spectralis®,a spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Method:This study was made on 50 eyes of 25 volunteers. The series comprised 6 males and 19 females. The age ranged from 18 to 58 years, average 30 years. Refraction ranged from +0.5 to -5.5 diopters, average -2.2 diopters. Retinal thickness was measured in an area within 30 degrees horizontally and 20 degrees vertically around the point of fixation. Values by first and second observer were compared using the follow-up function of the instrument. Results:Foveal thickness averaged 272.5±16.0 μm. Retinal thickness in parafovea and perifovea increased in the nasal, superior, inferior and temporal sector in the rising order. Interobserver difference averaged 0.50±0.47% with the follow-up function and 0.70±0.73% without. Conclusion:Macular thickness measured by Spectralis® showed minimum interobserver differences.
