Purpose:To identify factors related to visual outcome in eyeball rupture. Cases and Method:This retrospective study involved 23 eyes of 23 cases of rupture of eyeball due to blunt trauma. The series comprised 13 phakic eyes and 10pseudophakic eyes. Potentially prognostic factors included posttraumatic visual acuity, lens expulsion, location and size of eyeglobe rupture, and retinal prolapse. Results:In phakic eyes, visual outcome was bettern in eyes with small rupture, visual acuity better than light perception, and absence of prolapse of lens or retina. In pseudophakic eyes, visual outcome was significantly correlated only with posttraumatic visual acuity. Conclusion:In eyeball rupture, visual prognosis is related with the size of rupture, posttraumatic visual acuity, and prolapse of the lens or retina.
