Abstract. We evaluated the effect of antiallergic eyedrops in 123 patients of allergic conjunctival disordrs who were seen by us from January through April. The series comprised 40 males and 83 females. Their age ranged from 5 to 86 years, average 46.9 years. Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis was most frequent involving 101 patients(82.1%). For subjective symptoms, patients were asked to give a score from 0 to 3+for each of six items:itchiness, photophobia, lacrimation, discharge, foreign sensation and pain. Objective findings were also expressed as a score from 0 to 3+for each of ten items. As eyedrops, the patients received either disodium cromoglycate(DSCG)or ibudilast. Therapeutic effect was evaluated 7 to 10 days after start of instillation. Mild cases responded to treatment when the objective findings were less than 10 scores in total. About 40% of cases failed to improve and needed other medications. There was a high correlation between improvement of itchiness and totalled score of objective findings(p<0.001). There was no difference in the effect of DSCG and ibudilast. Therapeutic effect was poor in mild cases with low scores for subjective and objective findings.
