Abstract. Purpose:To report three cases of myopia that received intraocular lens(IOL)in one eye and laser surgery in the other. Cases:Each case received phakic posterior chamber IOL in the eye with stronger myopia and laser surgery in the other. Cases were followed up for one year or longer. Results:All the eyes had postoperative spherical equivalent of zero diopter. Patient's satisfaction was greater in the eye with better uncorrected visual acuity. Corrected visual acuity was 1.0 or better in all the eyes. Temporal corneal incision during insertion of IOL resulted in increase of corneal astigmatism by 0.44 diopter. Contrast sensitivity improved for all frequencies in IOL-implanted eyes and decreased in high-frequency range in laser-treated eyes. Conclusion:Insertion of phakic posterior chamber IOL may be an effective means to correct high myopia. In eyes with direct astigmatism, temporal corneal incision may affect patient's satisfaction.
