Abstract. Purpose:To review 3 cases who had phakic intraocular lens(IOL)in one eye and wavefront-guided LASIK in the other for high myopia. Cases:The patients were aged 24,39 and 41 years respectively. They had bilateral myopia of about -10D,-7D and -7D respectively. Results:One case had good visual acuity and refraction in the eye that received phakic IOL. The fellow eye developed regression one year after LASIK necessitating additional surgery. The other two cases had good visual acuity and refraction in both eyes. Contrast sensitivity following IOL remained unchanged in one case and increased in the other. Contrast sensitivity after LASIK decreased slightly. Higher-order aberrations remained unchanged in eyes receiving IOL and increased in eyes receiving LASIK. Subjective symptoms were better in IOL-implanted eyes in all the 3 cases. Conclusion:Phakic IOL implantation may be effective for high myopia.
