A 38-year-old woman presented with blurring of vision in her right eye since 3months before. She had myopia of-5.25D right and-4.5D left. Corrected visual acuity was 20/20 in either eye. Both eyes showed numerous yellowish-white dots of various sizes scattered over the macular area, around and nasal to the disc. A subretinal hemorrhage was present temporal-inferior to the fovea. No neovascularization was detected by fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography. Optical coherence tomography(OCT)showed multiple, small, and dome-like humps at the level of retinal pigment epithelium. The space posterior to the humps was optically empty. These findings were similar to those observed by OCT in age-related drusen. Her mother also had ordinary drusen in both eyes. These findings led to the diagnosis of familial drusen. This case was unusual in manifesting subretinal hemorrhage before the age of 40 years.
