  • Look Inside

A 80-year-old suffered blunt trauma to her left eye while falling. She had had high myopia and had become aphakic after cataract surgery. Her left visual acuity was no light perception. Massive hyphemia was present. During vitreous surgery performed 5 days after injury,a scleral rupture was found extending over one-half of the limbal circumference. The iris was absent, presumably following prolapse during the injury. Her left eye regained visual acuity of 0.06. Absence of retinal detachment appeared to be due to artificial aphakia.
