Abstract. Purpose:To report the location of scleral wound in ruptured eyeglobes with no identifiable wound before surgery. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 11 eyes of 11 patients treated by us in the past 5 years. All the eyes had eyeglobe rupture with no identifiable wound before surgery. Results:The series comprised 4 males and 7 females. The age ranged from 58 to 95 years, average 79 years. Injury was due to blunt trauma in all cases. During surgery, all the eyes had one scleral wound. Center of the wound was located superior to horizontal line running through 9 and 3 o'clock position in 9 eyes. In the remaining 2 eyes,a part of the wound lay superior to the line. Conclusion:A scleral wound was present in all ruptured eyes during surgery. The wound was located in the superior hemisphere of the globe. This finding may serve as a guideline in the surgery on ruptured eyeglobe with no identifiable wound.
