  • Look Inside

We reviewed 58 eyes that received penetrating keratoplasty during the foregoing 32months. The series comprised bullous keratopathy 39 eyes(67%),corneal leukoma 9 eyes(15%),corneal dystrophy 6 eyes(10%),and one eye each of keratoconus, corneal ulcer, perforation and thermal burn. The graft remained transparent in 51 eyes(88%),including bullous keratopathy 35 eyes(90%),leukoma 7 eyes(78%),and dystrophy 6 eyes(100%). As major complications, postoperative glaucoma developed in 9 eyes(16%)and graft rejection in 6 eyes(10%). The findings show that adequate control of intraocular pressure is imperative because of the high incidence of glaucoma following penetrating keratoplasty.
