Purpose:To report a case of endophthalmitis metastatic from infectious foci in the fingers. Design:Interventional case report. Case:A 32-year-old female persented with visual loss in her left eye since 3 weeks before. She had been receiving peroral prednisolone for systemic lupus erythematosus since 12 years before. She had been receiving systemic diclofenac for backache after compression fracture in the lumbar vertebra. She had had abscess in the fingertips since 3months before. Her visual acuity was 1.2 right and counting fingers left. Her left eye showed hypopyon and vitreous opacity. Results:Culture of vitreous aspirate showed methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus(MSSA). The same strain was isolated form the fingertips. These findings led to the diagnosis of metastatic endophthalmitis. Conclusion:Even infectious foci in the fingertips may lead to metastatic endophthalmitis, particularly in an immunocompromised patient.
