Purpose:To report the outcome of orthokeratology treatment for one year or longer. Cases and Methods:A total of 67myopic eyes in 35 persons were reviewed. The series comprised 25males and 42 females. The age ranged from 8 to 39 years, average 13 years. Power of myopia was less than -3D in 19 eyes, between -3D and 6D in 37 eyes, and between -6D and -13D in 11 eyes. Uncorrected visual acuity was 0.1 or less in 48 eyes(72%). Cases were followed up for one year or longer. Contact lens for the treatment was prescribed by one ophthalmologist. Results:Uncorrected visual acuity improved to 1.0 or over in 60 eyes(90%). The effect became manifest soon after start of therapy in the majority of cases. Therapeutic effect lasted for 12months or longer and started to decline after 21months. After 12months of treatment, all the examined eyes showed irregular astigmatism due to asymmetrical factors of corneal topography. Conclusion:Effect of orthokeratology treatment became manifest in its early stage. Exchange of contact lens is a major problem after 20months.
