We evaluated the effect of 1% brinzolamide on the corneal morphology in 31 eyes of 31glaucoma patients. The series comprised 18 eyes of primary open-angle glaucoma and 11 eyes of normal-tension glaucoma. The ages ranged from 37 to 80 years, average 61 years. The endothelial cell density significantly decreased after 3 and 6 months of instillation(p<0.0001). There was no significant change in central corneal thickness or incidence of hexagonal cells after 6 months of instillation. Endothelial cell density and central corneal thickness were independent on type of glaucoma, baseline intraocular pressure,or medication before start of brinzolamide. The findings show that instillation of 1% brinzolamide twice daily does not seem to affect the central corneal thickness or morphology of corneal endothelial cells.
