We evaluated the rate of intraocular pressure reduction in 88 eyes of 88 patients who received latanoprost intillation once daily. The series comprised 22 cases of primary open-angle glaucoma,43 cases of normal tension glaucoma, and 23 cases of ocular hypertension. The intraocular pressure(IOP)averaged 19.4±3.3 mmHg before start of instillation,15.3±3.4 mmHg after 1 month,14.9±3.3 mmHg after 3 months, and 14.7±2.9 mmHg after 6 months. The IOP reduction was significant(p<0.0001),with the rate of IOP reduction ranging from 20.2% to 23.5%. IOP before start of instillation was the sole significant factor related to the rate of IOP reduction(p=0.0019,R2=0.20). Latanoprost responder was defined as those manifesting less than 10% of IOP reduction. Its incidence was 20.9% at 1 month,18.2% at 3 months, and 14.3% at 6 months of instillation. Latanoprost nonresponders were more frequent among those with low IOP before start of instillation.
