　急性散在性脳脊髄炎（acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, ADEM）の経過中，脱髄性末梢神経障害を伴った41歳，男性例を報告した。この症例はADEMによる進行性脳脊髄症状とともに，腱反射低下，靴下型表在感覚低下を呈し，電気生理学的には伝導ブロックを伴う下肢未梢神経伝導速度の低下が認められた。腓腹神経生検で有髄神経線維密度の低下と無髄神経線維の変性がみられ，ときほぐし線維法では節性脱髄および再生像を多く認めた。多発性硬化症，Devic病と同様に，今後はADEMにおいても，脱髄性末梢神経障害に注目する必要があると考えられた。

A 41-year-old man had common cold on April 10, 1991. Five days after this illness he developed fever, dysarthria, visual field impairment, gait disturbance and consciousness disturbance followed. On admis-sion in another hospital, cerebrospinal fluid showed 341/mm³ cells (303 mononuclear cells, 33 polynuc-lear cells, 5 red cells), protein of 238 mg/dl, and sugar of 59 mg/dl.
