　前頭葉優位障害型Pick病（前頭葉型）7例，側頭葉優位障害型Pick病（側頭葉型）10例の痴呆による日常生活上の重症度をNMスケールにて評価し，MMS，RCPMにて知的能力を検討した。そして考え不精並びに語義失語症状の知能検査への影響を考慮しつつ，これら知能検査の有用性およびその得点と痴呆の重症度との関係を検討した。前頭葉型ではMMS，RCPMのいずれを用いても，考え不精のため実際より知的障害が重度と評価される可能性が示されたが，未だ考え不精が目立たない軽症例では知的能力は保たれていた。中等症例，重症例では考え不精が高度で，的確な知能評価は困難であった。側頭葉型では語義失語症状が存在する場合，言語性知能検査であるMMSによる正当な知的能力の評価は困難で，RCPMのような非言語性知能検査が有用であることが示された。また考え不精が明らかでない場合には，重症度にかかわらず知的能力は保たれていた。

In contrast to Alzheimer's disease, it is unclear whether the MMS (Mini-Mental State) or the RCPM (Raven's Coloured Progressive Matrices) is clinically useful as a mental test battery in patients with Pick's disease, and it has not been fully evaluated whether intelligence of these patients really deteriorate along with the staging of demen-tia. The present study aimed to make these problems clear.
